Until we meet again: Celebs including Ushna, Asim cheer men in green as Pakistan loses to India

Like many of us, singer Asim Azhar and director Nabeel Qureshi had one hand on the remote and the other, on their phones as they reacted to every ball on the microblogging site – and we’re not going to lie, we loved the reactions throughout the match. Although India won the match by five wickets, the competitive game had everyone’s stomachs twisted till the last over and that is proof of the insane ride that the T20 was.

From cheering on the team to commenting on its evolution to taking a jab at Indians’ Twitter game, actors Sheheryar Munawar, Ushna Shah, Amna Baber and others took to their social media to comment on the match.

Talking in retrospect, the Habibi hitmaker praised the quality of cricket displayed by the men in green. “I can’t tell you guys how proud I am of the evolution of this Pakistan cricket team. I would lose hope a few years ago with 148 runs on the board, but look at the fight these boys are putting up. This is exactly what we were missing all these years,” Azhar wrote about the boys chasing the game till the very last ball.

“Good fight boys! Pakistan is so proud of you! We were very unlucky tonight,” wrote the Ghalat Fehmi singer as the match concluded. Well played India.”

After the match, model Amna Baber shared a screenshot of a viral tweet on her Instagram stories with a laughing emoji. “Pakistan India matches are usually one-sided. Aj toh mauj hogayi (Today was riot though)!”

Cheering our team, Munawar also took to the photo-sharing app with a green background and a crescent and moon in the centre. “Well played, boys. Keep your heads up high. You fought till the end like champions. Humein tum pe naaz hai (We are proud of you).”

The Parey Hut Love actor went on to extend wishes to the winning team as well but of course with a warning. “Congratulations team India until we meet again.”

Commenting on the overall match, the Quaid-e-Azam Zindabad maker summarised, “Brilliant match! A superb fight by Pakistan defending 148 with the top batting line-up without having Shaheen (Afridi) is commendable. If we could have avoided extras and dodged Virat’s catch, maybe the result would be different! Nonetheless, great fight put together by team Pakistan.”

Taking a jibe at pseudo-love memes between the countries when Pakistan wins, Qureshi further wrote, “I can’t see any friendship/emotional pictures between Pakistan and Indian players on Twitter today? Oh, I see. We lost today, that’s why.”

Holding the flag high on her shoulders, Annie Khalid wore a green shirt and wrote, “We still love you Pakistan.”

Being conflicted between Indian captain Virat Kohli’s good genes and great game, a sad Shah wrote, “Kohli, you gorgeous human, we hate you,” and many users related to the sentiment.
