With offerings that span across genres from adventure and action to pure entertainment, Pakistani cinema is returning to its roots. The industry finds no occasion more opportune for movie releases than Eid, be it Eid-ul-Fitr or Eid-ul-Azha. Following the release of ‘Daghabaaz Dil’ on Eid-ul-Fitr, Eid-ul-Azha brings an exciting array of films to theaters nationwide and even to our television screens.

This Eid stands out as each film represents a unique genre, ensuring a rich tapestry of cinematic experiences. Here are our anticipations for the storylines and some speculative fun as well!

Abhi

With Kubra Khan and Goher Mumtaz collaborating for the first time in “Abhi,” the anticipation for their on-screen chemistry and performances is high. The trailer suggests a compelling narrative, blending romance and drama amidst the stunning landscapes of Kashmir.

The plot appears to revolve around themes of action and conflict, potentially focusing on a struggle for ownership of valuable land. Interspersed with these intense scenes are subtle indications of an emerging romance, which may enrich the storyline.

Yet, the question remains: is everything as it appears? Perhaps there is a layer of history or mystery to be uncovered.

“Abhi” is directed by Asad Mumtaz, with Khalid Iqbal serving as the executive producer. The film is produced by Ali Chaudry and Goher Mumtaz, while the screenplay and dialogues have been crafted by Shoaib Rabbani.

Na Baligh Afraad

Set in the 90s, the film captures an era where the transition from puberty to adulthood was a central theme. The decade assured a fun time, didn’t it? Back then, young individuals, or ‘Na Baligh Afraad,’ had little knowledge about adulthood until they experienced it firsthand. The film’s essence revolves around this journey to adulthood and the tumultuous path of puberty. Yet, the narrative is tackled in a humorously unique and light-hearted manner. True to Filmwala’s style, the project sets the stage for the unexpected, with humor playing the lead role.

This movie is a collaboration between Filmwala Pictures and Happy Films Productions, directed by Nabeel Qureshi and Fizza Ali Meerza. The ensemble cast features Samar Jafri, Aashir Wajahat, Rimha Ahmed, Faiza Hasan, Aadi Adeal Amjad, Irfan Motiwala, Saleem Mairaj, Ehteshamuddin, Arzu Fatima, among others.

Umro Ayyar – A New Beginning

Headlined by the distinguished Usman Mukhtar and Sanam Saeed, the ensemble cast of “Umro Ayyar – A New Beginning” is set to infuse their roles with depth and charm. The film has not only drawn attention for its remarkable cast but also for being the first Pakistani film to be featured at WonderCon. Boasting cutting-edge VFX, it offers a visually captivating experience, plunging viewers into a world brimming with magic and enigma.

In the narrative, anticipation builds around Usman’s character, Ammar, as he uncovers his latent supernatural abilities, thrusting him into an odyssey of adventure and self-discovery. It is expected that he will confront the trials of his fate and his emergent powers, guiding us through a tale replete with suspense and thrill. The roles of Sanam Saeed, Ali Kazmi, Hamza Ali Abbasi, Faran Tahir, and others in “Umro Ayyar” remain shrouded in mystery—whether they are Ayyars from the outset or if there’s more to their stories remains to be seen.
