The Legend of Maula Jatt is a Pakistani action film directed by Bilal Lashari. The movie is a reboot of the 1979 Punjabi blockbuster Maula Jatt, directed by Younis Malik. The Legend of Maula Jatt stars Fawad Khan as Maula Jatt, Mahira Khan as Mukkho Jatti, Hamza Ali Abbasi as Noori Natt, and Humaima Malik as Daroo Natti. The story takes place in rural Punjab and revolves around the conflict between two clans, the Jatts, and the Natts. Maula Jatt is a charismatic and powerful Jatt who defends his people against the violent and greedy Natt clan. Noori Natt, the leader of the Natt clan, seeks revenge against Maula Jatt and plots to destroy him and his family.

The Legend of Maula Jatt was a massive success in Pakistan, breaking box office records and becoming the highest-grossing Pakistani film of all time at the time of its release. The movie’s success was due to its star-studded cast, impressive visual effects, and action-packed storyline, which resonated with Pakistani audiences. The film has grossed$13.8 million worldwide on 500 defenses to date, making it the loftiest- grossing Pakistan- made and Punjabi- language film ever and the top South Asian film in the UK from 2018 to 2022. It grossed further than five times Pakistan’s former box office champion, Jawani Phir Nahi Ani 2.

Hikmat, announcing the news on social media, shared that “it’s hard to believe that The Legend of Maula Jatt is getting a rerelease after months of its initial release” but she’s “absolutely thrilled for audiences to rediscover the film.” She wrote, “It’s a testament to the enduring power of cinema to enchant and captivate even in the face of the digital revolution.”

Director Lashari also expressed his gratitude for the film’s continued success. “I’m incredibly grateful for the love and support our film has received from fans around the globe.
