White Rice Water As The Natural Hair Treatment

White Rice Water As The Natural Hair Treatment

This Rice water recipe is an Asian hair remedy used by Yao Village, a place in China known for its unique cultural identity and practices. For centuries Yao women have been using rice water for longer, stronger, darker, shinier, and healthier hair. So, is this for real? Well, rice water (whether cooked or fermented) contains vitamins and minerals essential for your hair, such as inositol, Vitamin B, Vitamin E, and other antioxidants. Before sharing the recipe, I want to put a BIG DISCLAIMER. Rice Water may take 2-3 days to make, and this seems a difficult task. Don’t give up yet! Ask your mother or sister to make this remedy for you if you are short on time, but this hair treatment is worth putting your efforts. So here you go.

How to Make White Rice Water?

You can easily find many Yao White Rice Water recipes online. The one I tried, I am sharing it down. For this recipe, make sure you buy white rice.

  1. Take a large bowl
  2. One cup of white rice- not brown, not black, and not basmati
  3. Clean the rice from dust, dirt or tiny particles
  4. Add three cups of water
  5. Let the rice be soaked in water for 2-3 days.
  6. Strain the rice water into a clean bowl
  7. Store this water in a spray bottle

(Pro tip: To remove the fermented rice smell, you can add citrus peel, whichever you like, orange or lemon, and bring the water to boil. After it cools down store the rice water in a spray bottle or a container)
