For centuries Yao women have been using rice water for longer, stronger, darker, shinier, and healthier hair. So, is this for real? Well, rice water (whether cooked or fermented) contains vitamins and minerals essential for your hair, such as inositol, Vitamin B, Vitamin E, and other antioxidants. Before sharing the recipe, I want to put a BIG DISCLAIMER. Rice Water may take 2-3 days to make, and this seems a difficult task. Don’t give up yet! How to Make White Rice Water?
You can easily find many Yao White Rice Water recipes online. The one I tried, I am sharing it down. For this recipe, make sure you buy white rice.
- Take a large bowl
- One cup of white rice- not brown, not black, and not basmati
- Clean the rice from dust, dirt or tiny particles
- Add three cups of water
- Let the rice be soaked in water for 2-3 days.
- Strain the rice water into a clean bowl
- Store this water in a spray bottle
(Pro tip: To remove the fermented rice smell, you can add citrus peel, whichever you like, orange or lemon, and bring the water to boil. After it cools down store the rice water in a spray bottle or a container)
How to Use Rice Water?
After washing your hair with shampoo, pour the rice water into your hair or spray the water gently on your hair’s roots and scalp. Leave your hair for 10-20 minutes. After the wait, rinse your hair with tap water.
