In less than 20 days of its release, The Legend of Maula Jatt has managed to dethrone hit Indian films at the UK box office. Previously, Mahira Khan and Fawad Khan’s epic beat the popular RRR at the UK box office, inching closer to Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt’s Brahmastra. Now, the Ammara Hikmat production has managed to surpass the Ayan Mukerji directorial as well.

According to the box office numbers, the film has minted £1.045 million while Brahmastra stands at £1.036 million. There’s no stopping Lashari’s film.

Previously, the filmmaker had penned a note on the day of his much-anticipated venture’s release. “An impossible dream, that is who you were a decade ago,” the 38-year-old director shared on his Instagram story ahead of the star-studded premiere of his reinvention of the 1979 classic. “Today, you are real, no more a figment of my imagination or a project of a dreamer. What a journey it has been!”

Lashari concluded, “Tonight, it’s finally time for me to let you go. And you have to let me go to go dream again an untold story of another realm.”

Earlier this week, the makers announced that the film had crossed Rs100 crores globally. Lashari, producer Ammara Hikmat and the star-studded cast of the hit film congratulated the audience for propelling 1979’s reboot on the run to becoming Pakistan’s most successful film to date.

The Legend of Maula Jatt stars Fawad Khan, Mahira Khan, Hamza Ali Abbasi, Humaima Malick, Gohar Rasheed and Faris Shafi in pivotal roles.
