Unfirtunentily just before the release of this movie Indian people are starting to boycott it and Boycott Laal Singh Chaddha is trending on social media it all happened in the reaction of old Amir khan’s comments about intolerant India’ and Kareena Kapoor Khan’s support to a gang-rape victim, a three-year-old girl from Kathua in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
Thousands of audiences on social media post very negative comments and suggested boycotting the movie on every level. In addition to that number of politicians and Bollywood stars have also jumped into this game war against the film and said Amir Khan to take his statement back. In a now-expired Instagram story, Ranaut wrote, “I think all the negativity around the upcoming release of Laal Singh Chadha is skillfully curated by mastermind Aamir Khan Ji himself. This year no Hindi films have worked (barring one exception of a comedy sequel). Only South films deeply rooted in Indian culture or with local flavour have worked. A Hollywood remake would have not worked anyway but now they will call India intolerant.”
Additionally, she expressed that “Hindi films need to understand the pulse of audiences. It’s not about being a Hindu or Muslim, even after Aamir Khan Ji made a Hinduphobic PK or called India intolerant he gave the biggest hits of his life… please stop making it about religion or ideology. It takes away from their bad acting and bad films.”
This does not happen the first time India started a campaign against Muslim actres and boycott their movies. During an event, Aamir had said, “As an individual, as part of this country as a citizen, we read in the papers what is happening, we see it on the news and certainly, I have been alarmed. I can’t deny it. I have been alarmed by a number of incidents”. He added, “When I chat with Kiran at home, she says ‘Should we move out of India?’ That’s a disastrous and big statement for Kiran to make. She fears for her child. She fears what the atmosphere around us will be. She feels scared to open the newspapers every day”.
