Pakistan is celebrating its 75 year of independence, and the State Bank of Pakistan has released a commemorative banknote worth 75 rupees to mark the nation’s diamond jubilee. In a tweet, the State Bank of Pakistan revealed the layout of the new currency note. The note has portraits of Quaid-e-Azam, Sir Syed Ahmed Khan, Allama Iqbal and Fatima Jinnah to recognize and acknowledge their contribution in the Pakistan movement.
“The note will be available for public issuance from 30th September 2022,” The central bank tweeted.
It is imprinted with the portraits of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah, Sir Syed Ahmed Khan and Allama Iqbal, unlike the other currency notes which only have the picture of the Quaid. The images signify the struggles Pakistan’s founding members faced for the country’s independence.
The other side of the note features a picture of Deodar trees and Pakistan’s national animal, a markhor. This image, designed by Sara Khan, symbolises Pakistan’s priority of environmental protection.
“The note has portraits of Quaid-i-Azam, Sir Syed Ahmed Khan, Allama Iqbal and Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah to recognize and acknowledge their contribution in Pakistan movement. The picture of Markhor on the note’s reverse highlights our focus on environmental sustainability,” the tweet stated.
The banknote was approved by the federal government in accordance with the SBP Act 1956, following the recommendations of the central bank’s board.
