NASA shares plans on its exciting mission to Mars

The objectives of the mission would be to prove the viability of living and working on the Martian surface. This would require operations to be optimized and, command, control, and coordination to be established on both moon and Mars.

Several science objectives of the mission were outlined in its announcement including the development of a transportation system that can routinely operate from the Earth-moon vicinity to Mars orbit and Martian surface.

For the mission to be a success, scientists will have to work out a solution for humans to be able to breathe while on Mars, even if that includes long-term equipment, BGR reports.

Astronauts will also have to spend months in microgravity, while NASA suggests a pressurized rover while on the surface.

The space agency hopes the mission will be able to take off in the late 2030s or early 2040s, in accordance with the advancement of technology then.
