Khalil Ur Rehman Qamar says ‘London Nahi Jaunga’ gives answers to people who think he’s a misogynist
The Meray Paas Tum Ho writer made an appearance at a local talk show where he was asked about the messages London Nahi Jaungi holds for the audience.
Talking about how the film explores women’s rights and raises questions about society’s double standards with gender, Qamar stated that the Mehwish Hayat and Humayun Saeed starrer is the ultimate answer for all the people who think that he’s a misogynist.
“The film has a strong message regarding women’s rights and raises questions about the double standards of society against women. I have always held women in the highest regard and made sure to never let them fall at the feet of men,” stated Qamar.
His 2017 film Punjab Nahi Jaungi received backlash for a particular slap gate scene and for casually reinforcing problematic idols for men.
Now with Qamar stating that London Nahi Jaunga advocates for women’s rights and their unfair treatment in society, the host questioned whether such an approach was to please feminists following his viral altercations with Marvi Sirmed and a call out by actor Mahira Khan.
Denying the claims, Qamar shared that the movie was written seven months prior to his confrontation with Marvi Sirmed and it depicts how he thinks. He reinforced that the themes explored in the film are unrelated to any viral news.
“People who accuse me of misogyny will be embarrassed after seeing the film and will nowhere to run,” shared the writer.
The Nadeem Baig directorial also stars Kubra Khan and Gohar Rasheed. Released on Eidul Azha, the romantic comedy is now being screened in cinemas all over Pakistan.
