Facebook Announced The Begging Of New Era By Changing Its Name.

Facebook officially announced the change of company name to META this week. The change has been done after a long criticism from around the world now the company decided to foil the social marker. They just aimed not only to stop the social media business but to enter a new digital world called metaverse.

CEO of the company Zuckerberg announced that we are not only changing the company name but also going to change the whole business domain of the company, People will play games, do chat, and share a review on the next level of digital platform Zuckerberg added.  The parent company behind the namesake app, as well as Instagram, WhatsApp, Messenger, and the virtual reality company Oculus is now called Meta Platforms Inc.

What is the metaverse?

In the metaverse, you can go to school, go to work, play games, watch concerts, browse store shelves, and much more without ever leaving your home. If the internet is two-dimensional—text and images on flat screens—think of the metaverse as three-dimensional and multi-sensory including touch. Currently, there are some spaces online with similarities to the metaverse, like the hand-drawn Topia and the virtual reality platform AltspaceVR. Both Fortnite and Roblox, among other massively multiplayer games, are perhaps the most prepared for the metaverse. Already people attend live events, interact with friends’ avatars, buy virtual goods, and even shop at brand-name stores in these worlds. But none resemble the parallel digital reality Facebook envisions.

Facebook already has more than 10,000 employees building consumer hardware like AR glasses that Zuckerberg believes will eventually be as ubiquitous as smartphones.“From now on, we’re going to be the metaverse first. Not Facebook first,” Zuckerberg  “Facebook is one of the most-used products in the world. But increasingly, it doesn’t encompass everything that we do. Right now, our brand is so tightly linked to one product that it can’t possibly represent everything we are doing.”

Facebook isn’t the first well-known tech company to change its company name as its ambitions expand. In 2015, Google reorganized entirely under a holding company called Alphabet, partly to signal that it was no longer just a search engine, but a sprawling conglomerate with companies making driverless cars and health tech. And Snapchat rebranded to Snap Inc. in 2016, the same year it started calling itself a “camera company” and debuted its first pair of Spectacles camera glasses.

Zuckerberg revealed in his blog post that we acquired many good and bad lessons from the past and now our prime focus will be on security and public privacy from day one. Indicating the Facebook issues he added that  “The last few years have been humbling for me and my company in a lot of ways.” In a recent election in the USA, Facebook faced some serious court issues which project the negative image like Facebook stealing the election by promoting the winning party extraordinary. So Facebook immediately bands in some areas of the globe which forced them to implement new policies about content. But now they took some aggressive setups to change the whole algorithm of the tech company.

Zuckerberg said that the name “meta” was inspired by his love of the classics and that it comes from the Greek word “beyond.”

“For me, it symbolizes that there is always more to build, and there is always a next chapter to the story.”
