E-challan defaulters to face the music

E-challan defaulters’ vehicles will be impounded in police stations, said Mehdi, adding that a special squad of 17 teams were re-activated to take action against offending vehicles, while 34 traffic wardens were also deployed across the city.

The teams would be deployed at various locations including Mall Road, Jail Road, Canal Road, Ferozepur Road, Main Boulevard Gulberg, Mozang and Mughalpura.

Additionally, patrolling officers and sector in-charges could also check defaulter vehicles from LTE sets.

CTO Mehdi further said that City traffic police monitoring teams and PSCA will also check such vehicles regularly.

Documentation of non-paying challan vehicles will also be seized, to be returned only after submission of e-challan payment. Citizens can find out if their vehicle is defaulting by texting the chassis number of their vehicle to 8815.

Earlier, challans were being issued manually for violation of lane line, stop line, speeding and traffic signals.
