COUNTRIES Where You can Travel without a vaccine

The coronavirus has devastated economies around the world and disrupted life in ways that were unimaginable just a few months ago. The world will never be the same. But at some point, industries will start coming back online and people will start going out again. Travel around the world is becoming easier thanks to the lifting of restrictions – particularly for those who are fully vaccinated with an approved Covid vaccine. 

But still, there are currently a handful of countries that will allow visitors who have not been vaccinated to enter. If you want to know more, here’s a list of countries allowing visitors who are not vaccinated. Before traveling, you should regularly check government guidelines for the country you might be considering visiting.

Greece

Greece is a country in southeastern Europe with thousands of islands throughout the Aegean and Ionian seas. Influential in ancient times, it’s often called the cradle of Western civilization. Athens, its capital, retains landmarks including the 5th-century B.C. Acropolis citadel with the Parthenon temple. Greece is also known for its beaches, from the black sands of Santorini to the party resorts of Mykonos. 

Unvaccinated travelers can visit the country with proof of a negative PCR test issued within 72 hours of arrival or proof of a negative Covid-19 rapid antigen test from an authorized laboratory, undertaken within the 24 hours before your arrival. This applies to everyone aged five and over. The government of Greece has clarified, “Entry of tourists in Greece is not subject to vaccination. Presenting a vaccination certificate greatly facilitates the procedures upon arrival. However, in no case is a vaccination or antibodies certificate considered a passport.”

 

Portugal

 

Portugal is a southern European country on the Iberian Peninsula, bordering Spain. Its location on the Atlantic Ocean has influenced many aspects of its culture: salt cod and grilled sardines are national dishes, the Algarve’s beaches are a major destination and much of the nation’s architecture dates to the 1500s–1800s, when Portugal had a powerful maritime empire. Portugal is open to visitors who are unvaccinated, as long as they are able to prove that they are not infected with the virus when they enter the country. 

To enter mainland Portugal, you will be required to show proof of a negative PCR test taken within 72 or an antigen test taken within 48 hours of arrival and complete and submit a traveller questionnaire before departure. Self-administered tests are not accepted. Your temperature will also be screened on arrival. Your airline may deny boarding if you cannot show one of these documents when you check in for your flight. Check with your airline before you travel. 

 

Croatia

 

Croatia, officially the Republic of Croatia, is a country at the crossroads of Central and Southeast Europe. Travelers can enter Croatia without vaccination but with proof of either a negative Covid-19 antigen test, issued within 48 hours of arrival, a negative PCR test issued within 72 hours of arrival. Travelers can even enter via a doctor’s certificate that proves that they have recovered, following a positive test result between 11 and 180 days prior.

Turkey

Turkey, officially the Republic of Turkey, is a transcontinental country located mainly on Anatolia in Western Asia, with a portion on the Balkans in Southeast Europe. Turkey is a popular tourist destination known for its Mediterranean coastline, impressive mosques, and stunning natural scenery.

Fully vaccinated to visit Turkey, but you must be able to show proof of a negative PCR test (taken no more than 72 hours before entry), rapid antigen test (taken no more than 48 hours before entry), or proof of a recent recovery from COVID-19 within the last six months. Further, arrivals will be required to show an online form, completed 72 hours before travel, and might be subjected to a medical screening.

Mexico

Mexico, officially the United Mexican States, is a country in the southern portion of North America. It is bordered to the north by the United States; to the south and west by the Pacific Ocean; to the southeast by Guatemala, Belize, and the Caribbean Sea; and to the east by the Gulf of Mexico.

Mexico does not currently require visitors to show a negative PCR test or quarantine on arrival, you will just need to fill in a form beforehand and have the QR code from the form with you on entry to the country. Resorts are also able to request guests fill in a health questionnaire on arrival. But travelers will be required to fill in a form beforehand, and show the QR code from the form while entering the country. Maldives

Maldives, officially the Republic of Maldives, is an archipelagic country in the Indian subcontinent of Asia, situated in the Indian Ocean. It lies southwest of Sri Lanka and India, about 750 kilometres from the Asian continent’s mainland. he Maldives has one of the most delicate environments anywhere on the planet. All visitors (except children under the age of one) must present a negative PCR test on arrival to the Maldives. The test and negative PCR certificate must be issued no more than 96 hours before departure. While those who are not fully vaccinated will be permitted to enter, they must self-isolate for 14 days and take an exit test before leaving quarantine. Fully vaccinated tourists do not need to isolate. 

Costa Rica

Costa Rica is a rugged, rainforested Central American country with coastlines on the Caribbean and Pacific. Though its capital, San Jose, is home to cultural institutions like the Pre-Columbian Gold Museum, Costa Rica is known for its beaches, volcanoes, and biodiversity. Roughly a quarter of its area is made up of protected jungle, teeming with wildlife including spider monkeys and quetzal birds. 

Unvaccinated travellers can also enter Costa Rica, but local regulations will be stricter for them. Unlike most countries, unvaccinated travellers will not be required to present a COVID-19 test to enter Costa Rica.
