BTS World Famous Music Group

BTS World Famous Music Group

BTS also known as the Bangtan Boys, is a South Korean boy band that was formed in 2010 and debuted in 2013 under Big Hit Entertainment. The septet—consisting of members Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook—co-writes and co-produces much of their own output. Originally a hip hop group, their musical style has evolved to include a wide range of genres. Their lyrics, often focused on personal and social commentary, touch on the themes of mental health, troubles of school-age youth and coming of age, loss, the journey towards loving oneself, and individualism. Their work also often references literature and psychological concepts and includes an alternative universe storyline.

The South Korean band beat the likes of Drake and Adele to top a chart compiled by music industry body the IFPI. It comes after a hugely successful year for Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V and Jungkook – who topped the US Billboard chart three times, and earned a Grammy nomination for their Michael Jackson-inspired single, Butter.

The Rise Of BTS

Six years ago, when BTS released their music video debut “No More Dream” in June 2013, it wasn’t obvious that they would be K-pop’s breakout success story in America. The group, included of Kim Tae-hyung (better known as V), Jung Ho-seok (J-Hope), Kim Nam-joon (RM), Kim Seok-jin (Jin), Park Ji-min, Jeon Jung-kook, and Min Yoon-gi (Suga), showed  itself as  “bad boys,” sporting gold chains, bandannas and heavy black eyeliner. The warm and impressive, rap-heavy track urged young people not to be defined by their parents’ aspirations.

These seven superstars who make up the boy band have been smashing long-standing records time after time. Catchy music, slick moves and a passionate fanbase  have catapulted BTS to the top of the charts across the globe. Their name is an acronym for the Korean phrase “Bangtan Sonyeondan” which translates to “Bulletproof Boy Scouts”. BUT… for their English fans, they adapted BTS to stand for “Beyond The Scene”.

K-Pop has grown in popularity over the last few years. But no acts have reached the popularity of BTS. They’re the best-selling artists in South Korea’s history. They became the fastest group since The Beatles to earn four US number one albums. They did it in less than two years.
