Beep: Pakistan’s first ever WhatsApp-like app launched

Another important setup toward digitization from the Ministry of Information Technology by officially launching the first online communication application Beep. At the initial stage, the app is only available for Government employees in 41 federal ministries and departments with the aim of secure channel communication and minimizing the risk of hacking. But officials said that the application will soon be available for the general public.

According to government IT officials this app is more secure with full control under the IT ministry and the application server machine is also situated in Pakistan. With an investment of 79 billion on 83 new projects, the communication bridge by this application will be very helpful to complete the task with full security.

According to the IT ministry press release following are the key features of this application.

  • Audio and Video Calling
  • Video Conferencing
  • Secure Document Transfer

Syed Amin Ul Haque, senior officials of the Ministry of IT, including the Federal Minister for IT and Telecom also attend the launching ceremony of BEEP. IT ministry officials said that will stop the illegal audio and video leaks. In addition to that three incubation centers have been established over the past 4 years to develop new IT projects.

Important milestones like Cyber Security Policy and Data Protection Bill have been achieved as well, according to Syed Amin Ul Haque.
