Ahad Raza Mir set to star in Netflix’s ‘Resident Evil’ series

After Humayun Saeed recently bagged a role on Netflix’s historical hit The Crown and Nimra Bucha made an appearance in the trailer for Ms. Marvel, Ahad Raza Mir has announced that he will be starring in Netflix’s live-action remake of Resident Evil. While the details of Mir’s character are currently being kept under wraps, the actor took to Instagram to share a poster of the series, captioning it with, “Evil has evolved. Resident Evil spreads to Netflix. July 14.”

The reboot will build on the hit survival video game franchise, which also includes a series of Hollywood films starring actor Mila Jovovich. The official synopsis of the Netflix series reads, “Year 2036 – 14 years after a deadly virus sparked a global apocalypse, Jade Wesker fights to survive in a world overrun by bloodthirsty infected and insane creatures.” It continues,  “In this carnage, Jade is haunted by her New Raccoon City past, her father’s connection to the Umbrella Corporation, but most importantly, what happened to her sister, Billie.”

Mir’s announcement was met with widespread delight, with fellow actor Mahira Khan commenting on his Instagram post with a series of celebratory emojis.
