19 killed, several injured as bus tumbles into ravine in Balochistan

Assistant Commissioner Syed Mehtab Shah told The Express Tribune that the bus was heading to Quetta from Rawalpindi when it tumbled into the ravine.

“Rainfall and speeding led to the incident,” he stated, adding that two students were also among the deceased.

So far four bodies have been brought to the district headquarters hospital in Zhob and a rescue operation has been launched to recover the remaining bodies.

“All injured people have been shifted to Zhob hospital,” Shah said.

Moreover, an emergency has been declared at the hospital to provide medical treatment to those injured – which include women and children.

PM, CM express sorrow

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed sorrow over the tragic accident and offered his condolences and sympathies to the bereaved families of the deceased.

The premier ordered the provision of the best and immediate medical aid for the passengers, adding that no effort should be spared in their treatment.

Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Quddus Bizenjo also expressed grief and sorrow over the deadly traffic incident.

In a statement, the CM directed the local administration to provide better medical treatment to those injured in the accident.
